P&P INSURANCE BROKERS’ ANNUAL GSSF CHRISTMAS PRACTICAL PISTOL MATCH SET FOR THIS WEEKEND

Local practical shooters will for the second year be given an opportunity to participate in the Annual Christmas Practical Pistol Match which has been exclusively sponsored by P&P Insurance Brokers and Consultants Limited and hosted by the Guyana Sport Shooting Foundation. This much anticipated competition will be held at the GDF’s Timehri Ranges this weekend.

For the second consecutive year, the match will usher in the festive Christmas season and hopefully brings lots of cheer to the members and local pistol aces as they compete in the final competition for the GSSF’s calendar year. Competitors will be separated into two divisions based on their firearm setup: Production Division (for out of the factory firearms) and Limited Division (where some add-ons and higher end aftermarket parts are allowed.)

Chairman of the Practical Shooting Committee and Match Director Mr. David Dharry, noted with sponsorship from P&P Insurance Brokers & Consultants Limited, prizes for the Top Three Overall Shooters in each division. Preparations are on stream for the match which will feature four exciting stages according to a release from the Match Committee. The divisions which will be recognised are Limited and Production. Mr. Dharry noted that the Match will be open to all experienced Practical Pistol Shooters of Guyana and advised competitors to pre-register. Interested sanctioned practical shooters wanting to come out to have some safe shooting fun, can contact any Committee Member of the GSSF, visit www.guyanasportshooting.com for further details or simply send an email to info@guyanasportshooting.com indicating their interest to participate.

Practical shooting is regarded as any type of sport shooting that involves engaging targets while having to move with the firearm. The handgun element of sport simultaneously measures the ability of the competitor to shoot rapidly and accurately with a full power handgun in a safe, fair, fun and competitive environment. Scoring takes into account three elements – speed, accuracy and power. Every GSSF’s Practical Shooting Match is made up of stages that seek to measure a shooter’s ability in all three elements and coordinated under strict safety guidelines marshaled by experienced Range Officials.

At the small ceremony at P&P Insurance Brokers and Consultants Ltd.’s office located at Lot 35 North and King Streets, Georgetown, Mr. Dharry, in accepting the kind sponsorship, conveyed thanks to the Director, Mr. Vikash Panday. The Foundation expresses its thanks once again to Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Bishwa Panday and P&P Insurance, who un-hesitatingly came on board to support the sport shooting fraternity for the second year making this an official event on the shooting Calendar.

Mr. Vikash Panday expressed the delight in once again coming on board and pledged his commitment to the Foundation and to ensuring that this Annual Christmas Match will continue to be the highly anticipated event it is.
