The Qualifier Outdoor Archery on Saturday 17^thSeptember, 2016, on the second day of the Indigenous Heritage Games 2016 at the Everest Sports Ground, Eve Leary, Georgetown saw 86 (eighty-six) competitors participating from all parts of Guyana.

Mr. Nicholas Hing, Chairman of the Archery Committee, Guyana Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) gave an Overview as to the Rules under which the Competition was conducted, in accordance with World Archery Foundation, to which the GSSF is affiliated.

The morning Opening Ceremony on Friday 16^th September, 2016, of the Indigenous Heritage Games 2016 at the Everest Sports Ground, Eve Leary, Georgetown, began with a colourful March-Past of the Athletes from nine of the Regions led out by the GDF Drum Corps.

The morning proceedings were chaired by Sports Producer, Mr. John Ramsingh who welcomed everyone and introduced Mr. Joel Fredericks, the NTC Chairperson who said a Prayer for the Gathering followed by the gathering reciting the National Pledge before the Speeches.

President of the Foundation, Ms. Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon speaking on behalf of the Guyana Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) expressed delight at the opportunity to participate in the Indigenous Heritage Games 2016.

Archery Guyana, a discipline under the Guyana Sport Shooting Foundation, announced that plans are on stream to host their final archery event for 2015. The group will put on their “Christmas Archery Extravaganza 2015” this weekend at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

Members of the GSSF present at the indoor facility will be able to try the Foundation’s member-made PVC Olympic-styled Bows that were fabricated with the assistance of World Archery Americas through their Archery Development Seminar that was held in Guyana a few months ago by Top Columbian Archer Mr. Diego Torres. New members in attendance will be able to obtain instructional training and in order to practice the art with a bias towards Indoor Olympic Style shooting in this upcoming Archery Extravaganza.
